MOGUL (MONGOLIAN) WAR ELEPHANT (1526) 14th CENTURY. COLLECTION FRONTLINE ALTAYA MEDIEVAL WARRIORS 1:32

The "Mogul" dynasty of India was founded by the Afghan prince Bábar in 1526, when he defeated the Sultan of Delhi at the front of an army of elephants.

The new emperor started the term "Mogul" out of disdain for his Mongol past, embodied in the figure of his feared grandfather Genghis Khan.

The main function of the Mogul war elephants (which were fully armored with armor weighing more than 250 kg) was as a command post for the commander.
