Was established by the Act of 27 April 1956. The principles of awarding the Medal have changed in details over the years, although they were similar. They were defined by the regulations of 1967, 1982, 1991, 2000.
Awarded for special merits for education, in particular in the field of didactic, educational and caring activities, as well as teacher education and improvement.
