ERNST SCHNELLER DDR MEDAL. SILVER STUFE (1961-1972)

Highest award from the GDR Society for Sport and Technology. Instituted in 1961 in 3 classes: bronze, silver and gold.

Awarded for outstanding service in educating young people for defense.

Material non-ferrous metal silver brass. Diameter medal 32 mm.

Reverse:   FÜR DIE - STÄRKUNG - DER VERTEIDIGUNGSKRAFT - UNSERER - SOZIALISTISCHEN - HEIMAT - GST (FOR THE / STRENGTHEN / DEFENSE FORCE / OUR / SOCIALIST / HOME - GST (Society for Sport and Technology)

The medal was worn until 1972 on a trapezoidal red enameled clasp, the base of which was grained. It showed the GST symbol in the middle.

With enameled ribbon bar and plastic case. Used.
